Being a kid I remember I used to be afraid , the Dark . When the electricity went out i would hurry to hold the person near me because I just didn’t like the idea of there being no light and feeling like i was alone.
As i grew older that fear started to creep out and boy was i thankful for that. Now that I’m much older , i can stay in the dark (alone) for a period of time , sleep in the dark (alone) without trying to find the next person.
In my walk with God i’ve feared a great deal of things , been anxious and worried about the WHAT NEXT.
It’s growing in God that makes all of it vanish. Those things that seemed so big and thought I couldn’t conquer, now I don’t take notice of them because I know who is in me , who’s child i am.
As humans there’s that one thing we fear, the kind of fear that may make us anxious or depressed and As “Christians” we are told not to fear 365 times which means it’s an everyday reminder.
“Insert do not fear verse”
So when you fear it makes you feel like you’re going in a hole because as a Christian you think you are automatically not prone to fear. It’s only growing in Christ , working for it that makes us stronger and better.
It’s okay to be scared, but what’s not okay is not doing anything about it ,not letting it all out to God because he drives away our fear. We do everything with the help of our God , trying to do something on our own is trying to be a little god . How can you do something without the help of your creator.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalms 23:4 NIV
The darkest of valley’s can be a lot of things It might be losing someone, failing an examination, failing an interview etc .
Walking through that dark valley with God’s strength and love is what matters . With God’s strength and love you cannot fear anything because you know your God will let you out of that valley and see the light.
Now this might be easier said than done but holding on to God with that little hope you have is all it takes to see the light, asking someone to pray for you when you feel you have no strength is what will keep you on God’s side.
I say this because we are all humans and we do take those turns when things don’t look all so well.
There’s a song that helps me in times like these called Even When It Hurts (Praise) by Hillsong.
“Even when the fight seems lost
I’ll praise You
Even when it hurts like hell
I’ll praise You
Even when it makes no sense to sing
Louder then I’ll sing Your praise, oh-ooh
I will only sing Your praise, oh-ooh” 🎶
